About us and the role
We are looking for a Learning Village Admissions Officer with Recruitment Support to join the team at Avanti Grange Secondary School, supporting the smooth running of our admissions, student enrolment and school-level recruitment processes.
This is a varied role where you will work closely with students, parents and carers, school colleagues, the Local Authority, HR and Trust teams, providing support throughout the admissions journey while also coordinating recruitment activity, interview arrangements and new staff onboarding.
You will be a key point of contact for families and colleagues, using your strong communication and organisational skills to ensure information is accurate, processes are well managed and everyone receives a welcoming and professional experience. From supporting prospective families and transition activities to helping new colleagues settle into school life, you will have the opportunity to build positive relationships and make a meaningful contribution to our wider school community.
If you are organised, approachable and enjoy a varied role where you can combine detailed administration with working closely with people, we would love to hear from you.
Please note that we may close this vacancy early if we receive sufficient applications for the role. Therefore, if you are interested, we'd encourage you to submit your application as early as possible.
School visits are welcomed and encouraged. Please contact the school to arrange a suitable time.
Avanti Grange is Bishop’s Stortford’s newest secondary school, already recognised as Outstanding in all areas by Ofsted (2025). Our state-of-the-art campus serves families across Bishop’s Stortford and neighbouring villages, and is home to a vibrant, ambitious and supportive community. The school is heavily oversubscribed, reflecting its strong reputation locally and the demand to be part of our journey.
We are a co-educational community school, part of the Avanti Schools Trust, with a clear vision to inspire spiritually compassionate changemakers. Our staff are motivated by a shared purpose: to deliver exceptional teaching, foster character formation, and nurture wellbeing. As one colleague put it: “Working at Avanti Grange feels like being part of a family with a shared, values-driven mission.”
We are equally committed to the growth of our staff as to the success of our students. In 2024, we were awarded the Teacher Development Trust Gold Award for the quality and culture of our professional development – recognition held by only a small number of schools nationally. Through education-leading CPD and coaching, colleagues at Avanti Grange thrive in an environment where “better never stops.”
Students benefit from a rigorous, knowledge-rich curriculum, underpinned by yoga, mindfulness, and an exceptional co-curricular programme. Our pastoral system is a defining strength: impeccable behaviour supports high-quality learning, while wellbeing is woven into daily life through practices that allow both staff and students to flourish.
With more than 660 students on roll and growing each year towards a full secondary and sixth form, Avanti Grange offers a rare opportunity to help shape one of the most exciting schools in the region.
What will you do?
- Manage the school’s admissions processes across the Learning Village, liaising with families, the Local Authority and relevant agencies to support applications, waiting lists, appeals and student transitions.
- Coordinate school-level recruitment administration, including raising recruitment requests, checking adverts, preparing shortlisting and interview schedules, supporting offers and helping new staff settle into the school.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date student, parent and admissions information across Arbor and other Trust systems, supporting enrolment, student mobility, data collection and statutory returns.
- Work closely with the Senior Leadership Team, SENDCo, HR, Trust colleagues and external partners to ensure admissions and recruitment processes are well organised, compliant and responsive to the needs of the school community.
- Provide a high-quality administrative service to students, parents, staff and visitors, contributing to open events, recruitment fairs, meetings and wider school activities while maintaining confidentiality and data protection at all times.
